About the event
As a CICOPA member workers.coop is invited to take part in this year's mutual learning session on business transfers to employees under co-operative form, i.e. workers buyouts (WBOs).
As a CICOPA member we are invited to attend this year's Mutual Learning Session. This session will focus on the topic of business transfers to employees under the cooperative form, i.e., workers buyouts (WBOs). If you intend to participate as a representative of workers.coop please let us know, however member co-operatives are also welcome.
Business transfers are increasing in number and are gaining more attention. These include intra-family succession, selling a business to a third party, and business transfers to employees under the cooperative form, i.e., workers buyouts. WBOs can take place for a variety of reasons, such as a business crisis, bankruptcy, business succession, or business relocation, among others. This model empowers workers as they assume ownership of the business and fosters democratic decision-making and solidarity.
By bringing together different perspectives on WBOs from across the world, the MLS aims to provide a space for meaningful discussion and knowledge-sharing on the diverse contexts and approaches to workers buyouts.
Meet our presenters:
The following speakers will share their experience with WBOs in their countries:
- Pierre Charrete, Business transfer coordinator - Senior financial advisor for RéseauCOOP, Quebec, Canada
- Denis Cagnin, production and Services Sector Manager, Legacoop Veneto, Italy
- Aurélien Hiraux, Investment Director - Financial Tools Department, CGSCOP, France
- Cristian Horton, President of FECOTRA, and the worker cooperative resulting from a WBO Cooperar 7 de Mayo, Argentina
This Member Learning SEssion is designed to be interactive. We encourage you to actively participate in the Q&A sessions and share your own experience with workers buyouts.
The MLS is designed to be a participatory event for CICOPA members, with the aim to foster a collaborative working environment and exchange experiences. It will be an open space for CICOPA members for sharing successes, opportunities, challenges and even failures – all with the goal of collective learning and improvement.
The target audience for the MLS is primarily federations, but cooperatives are also welcome to participate.
