Shout out to the Fruit Works Co-operative, a small co-op in West Yorkshire making and selling fruit trees, training people to grow fruit and working in schools and community groups. We've just had the pleasure of meeting them again through their recent member Induction, and they recently hosted a worker co-op meetup in Leeds.
Ceramics Studio Co-op in London took a big step by investing in a new, state-of-the art large kiln, which they’ve christened... The Large Kiln. Running a leading ceramic artists space and pottery school, the co-op only has a couple of spaces left on their Peoples’ Pottery Summer short course - "despite competition from some certified capitalist idiots who recently moved into the area." Award-winning Leading Lives’ 279 worker members provide high quality social care support for people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. The co-op recently participated in the round table ‘Social care solutions to fix a broken system’ alongside our friends Equal Care Co-op. Perhaps less importantly, LL has pre-ordered 200 workers.coop ceramic badges, to give to new joiners with their share certificate. Thanks to Lucy Humphrey for the update.
We were moved to hear that Wave Design has decided to call it a day. Wave produced great co-op creative and web development work, and in the words of founder member Felix Lozano, “achieved everything we set out to do”. Before workers.coop, Felix was an elected member of the Worker Co-op Council, helped animate Worker Co-op Weekend, CoTech and the Worker Co-op Solidarity Fund, and served us as a worker co-op Director on the board of Co-operatives UK. We thank you. |
